Disconnected to stay connected.....
How many of us do still wait to hear the telephone ring? How
many cherish the lovely letters you had once received? How many of us still
talk to our neighbor’s till our throats go dry? How many???
We can go on asking ourselves of these, how many, things we
still do and how many more we cherish?
Gone are the days
when we used to be so.
Technology has played a vital role in the growth of our
nation, society and also our daily needs. So does it grow beyond our
boundaries. As I see the metro, buses, cars and bikes, I less see the walkers
by the road side. The emerging usage of the mobile phones is one such curse in
disguise.
Clung to the phones are the youngsters these days and the
oldies are not far behind in the race. Every hand has a fancy phone with red,
blue, green, yellow in the zoom.
In the midst of trying to connect to friends over facebook,
twitter, wassup people have a blind eye to the ones around them.
Today I see two friends sitting beside each other glued to
their phones, connecting to other people and missing out on the nice moments
they can have, spending time in each other’s company. The commuters in the bus and metros do not know the co passengers, as they have never got a chance to take their eyes off their phones. I don’t see smiles crossing each other.
Kids these days know games like temple run, bubble shoot and are ignorant of games like lagori and hide n seek.
Strange can be the verdict that technology has played a
vital part in connecting people and also been a silent culprit in disconnecting
them.
